The Japanese firm presents its first hybrid crossover coupe. The Nissan Juke Hybrid is an eye-catching model from every angle. Discover more power for better fuel economy.

Nissan Juke non-plug-in hybrid design (2022)

After more than two years on the market, the second generation Nissan Juke is finally entitled to an additional engine: the hybrid. Also, with a dynamic and sporty design, this crossover coupe makes a statement wherever it goes.

Exterior

The Nissan Juke Hybrid inherits the same lines as the gasoline model launched two years ago. The hybrid version differs from the gasoline model by a few specific elements.

A new grille with a shutter that allows to vary the air flow, a new logo, "Hybrid" badges on the front doors and on the tailgate. Finally, the new 19-inch aero alloy wheels are inspired by those offered by the Nissan Ariya electric SUV.

Interior

No change on board, except for the display on the small 7-inch screen. This one is located at the level of the dials of the dashboard and leaves place to the electric part. A battery gauge, an econometer, as well as a representation of the energy flows.

We remind you that you can also enjoy an unprecedented musical experience. Indeed, the Nissan Juke hybrid has a connected audio system including Bose Personal Plus. The speakers are integrated into the headrests of the driver and front passenger. A unique experience!

In addition to generous on-board space, the cabin has plenty of storage for phones, drinks, small and large items, as well as USB ports in the front and rear.

Dimensions

In terms of dimensions, the Juke hybrid is 4.21 m long, 1.80 m wide and 1.60 m high. The wheelbase is 2.63 m. On board, it can accommodate up to five passengers.

The Nissan Juke Hybrid is as flexible as you are. It's designed to make it easy to load your stuff, and to carry bulky items. However, the trunk capacity suffers due to the presence of the battery.

354 liters against 422 liters for the gasoline version, that is 68 liters less. Once the rear seats are folded down, the storage volume remains generous with 1,237 liters.

Motorization and performance

The Nissan Juke has the same engine configuration as the Renault Captur e-Tech and Arkana Hybrid. A 94 hp gasoline block, from Nissan (optimized for hybridization), coupled with a 49 hp electric motor and a starter-alternator, from Renault, which offers a power of 20 hp. The latter is powered by a small liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery with an energy capacity of 1.2 kWh.

Together, they produce 145 hp of power and allow for rapid acceleration. A 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 10.1 seconds, compared to 11.8 seconds for the DIG-T 114 DCT7 version. The top speed is 166 km/h (on the track) and 55 km/h in electric mode, which allows access to the ZFE (low emission zones) for example.

The transmission is operated to the front drive wheels by means of a multi-mode automatic gearbox with dog clutches, from the brand au losange. It has four gears for the combustion engine and two for the electric motor.

Nissan Juke hybrid: how does the battery charge?

A non-rechargeable hybrid car has an intelligent energy management system. It uses the high-efficiency combustion engine, in this case gasoline, to recharge the battery or transmit power to the wheels.

And it does so at times when it is most efficient and most suitable for your travels. So you can drive around town in electric mode for part of the trip, and enjoy a more responsive driving experience.

Crossover consumption

The car manufacturer NIssan announces a consumption of 5.0 to 5.2 l/100 km in the combined WLTP cycle, equivalent to 114 to 117 g/km in CO2 emissions. In an urban environment, with 80% driving in electric mode, this means a 40% reduction in fuel consumption. That's a good point!

The equipment of the latest Nissan Juke hybrid

Nissan has chosen to eliminate the entry-level trim levels. Thus, the hybrid version of the Nissan Juke is offered from the N-Connecta trim level, the heart of the range, with a rather well-stocked equipment list.

In addition, the crossover is also entitled to a high-end special series, as well as a version reserved exclusively for professional customers. All you have to do is choose the trim level that includes the equipment that best suits your needs:

New Nissan Juke hybrid: its price

The Nissan Juke in hybrid version is finally making its debut on the market. Available in five trim levels, including a limited "First Edition" series, Nissan's hybrid crossover has a starting price of €31,450 for the base N-Connecta trim. Prices are similar to those of the Renault Captur hybrid.

The electrified crossover has been available since June 1, 2022. Nevertheless, it remains in the upper range of the market, with equivalent engine and finish, against the Hyundai Kona Creative and the Toyota Yaris Cross Design.

Where is the Nissan Juke hybrid manufactured?

Like the Quashqai, the Japanese crossover coupe is assembled in Sunderland, England. It is also built on the same platform as its French cousin the Renault Captur (CMF-B).

Our opinion

The Nissan Juke has received the engine that will allow him to relaunch. Indeed, the Japanese gains in power with the hybrid, and benefits from lower fuel consumption. This crossover coupe is available with high finishes, which allows it to position itself as an outsider on the market of hybrid urban crossovers. Get your tickets ready!
