New Toyota RAV4 Plug in Hybrid

When it comes to hybridization, Toyota is the pioneer! However, after two generations of Prius, the Japanese manufacturer has launched another form of electrification: the rechargeable hybrid. This solution has just been extended to the RAV4, and allows a record autonomy! So, is the pioneer of the hybrid going to be the king of the PHEV?

Interior style

There are hardly any cosmetic improvements on the outside. Nevertheless, in order to offer an ideal setting for your journeys, the elegance and comfort of the interior are there.

Indeed, the RAV4 Plug In Hybrid’s black leather upholstery has a sporty look. They are heated in the front and rear, and offer a special moment on every journey.

Floating in the center of its center console, the Toyota RAV4 now offers the new 10.5-inch touchscreen multimedia system. On the driver’s side, the latest innovation can be found on the back of the steering wheel.

The RAV4 Plug In Hybrid comes standard with an all-new 12.3-inch digital meter. Customizable, you can choose from four different styles: Casual, Smart, Sport and Tough, as well as select the layout and information you want to see on it.

Thanks to the compact dimensions of the battery, you benefit from a generous and flexible trunk volume (with underfloor space) of 520 liters.

Engine and performance of the 4×4

Under the hood is the 2.5-liter Hybrid Dynamic Force gasoline engine with 185 hp. The same as in the RAV4 hybrid. The latter is combined with a more powerful electric motor

. Together, they produce a combined output of 306 horsepower. With intelligent all-wheel drive (AWD-i), you get 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6 seconds. Top speed is limited to 180 km/h.

This engine is more powerful than the Hyundai Tucson and any other compact SUV you can think of. In the combined cycle, this engine has a CO2 emission of 22 g CO2/km and an average fuel consumption of 1.0 l/100 km. It is among the best in its class.

Battery and autonomy

Enjoy instant acceleration and unparalleled range with dual energy from the 4th generation hybrid system and a high capacity lithium-ion battery.

Our opinion

The RAV4 Plug in Hybrid offers the best electric range on the market, outside of the luxury SUV. As for the rest, it offers a very smooth ride, a high level of comfort, and performance on par with the competition. There is nothing to complain about with this RAV4, or almost nothing. The price! The only downside, as is often the case. It is still quite exclusive.
