So much has changed since the first generation was released in 1994. This fifth version is refreshed and is as comfortable under city lights as it is off the beaten track. The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid keeps all its promises!
Thanks to the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) chassis, the engineering team was able to reduce the weight of the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. The center of gravity has been lowered, chassis rigidity increased, and driver visibility improved. Thus, all these developments make the RAV4 Toyota easier to drive.
The latter is robust and designed for every journey. The grille is wide, and the LED headlights are frowned upon, giving the bow an aggressive look. For the base Active trim, the alloy wheels are 17 inches.
The ToyotaRAV4 Hybrid’s interior design matches the exterior design very well. Indeed, we discover a modern dashboard, consisting of a large central console with a 10.5-inch color multimedia touch screen (depending on trim level). You can choose from a wide range of functions. Apple CarPlay wireless connectivity, cloud navigation, or the remote update function that is part of the “Smart Service” package, offered for four years by the manufacturer Toyota.
This screen features a new voice assistant that quickly and easily handles multiple commands. “Hey Toyota” includes simple phrases. If you say “I’m cold,” the voice recognition will respond by closing the windows or turning up the heat, all while keeping your hands on the wheel.
On the back of the steering wheel, the content of the 12.3-inch digital meter is customizable. You can choose between four display modes: Casual, Smart, Sport and Tough.
In terms of comfort, the Toyota RAV 4 offers easily accessible storage areas. In the back, the bench seat offers shoulder room, but also a nice legroom. The seats are made of synthetic sport leather and are heated in the front. The perfect balance between high-tech equipment, space on board and driving comfort.
Dimensionally, it’s the right balance with the compact SUV of the Peugeot 3008 type. With 4.60 m length, 1.85 m width, and a height of 1.67 m. The wheelbase is 2.70 m. The trunk space is generous, with its 580 liters, and up to 1,690 liters, once the rear seat folded.
Motorization and performance
While the Toyota Corolla recently upgraded its engines, there is no change on the side of the 100% hybrid SUV. The 2023 vintage RAV4 Toyota features a revolutionary 2.5-liter Hybrid Dynamic Force engine with 178 horsepower. This is combined with two different configurations:
The first one, two-wheel drive at the front (2WD) develops 218 horsepower. It takes 8.4 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h.
The second, with its intelligent all-wheel drive (AWD-i), has up to 222 horsepower and can accelerate to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds.
Impressive performance both on and off the road. For both configurations, the declared top speed on the track is 180 km/h.
Consumption and CO2 emissions
Fuel consumption in mixed conditions and according to the WLTP standard is 5.6 to 5.8 l/100 km for the two-wheel drive version, and 5.7 to 5.9 l/100 km in four-wheel drive. CO2 emissions are 126 to 136 g/km and 128 to 134 g/km.

How does the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid recharge?
Thanks to kinetic energy (regenerative braking) and the thermal engine, the vehicle recharges itself while driving, without having to worry about plugging it in. Innovative!
As mentioned before, the 2.5 liter engine is a gasoline engine. The latter responds better with sp98, especially if the car is not driven for a long time. Thus, the fuel does not degrade.

Toyota RAV4 hybrid: what is its price?
After the Toyota Yaris city car, it’s the turn of the Toyota RAV 4 to undergo a price increase. Regardless of the trim level, the SUV is going up by €1,450 for hybrids. The price starts at €39,950 for the basic Active trim.
