The length of the Toyota C-HR hybrid is 4,390 mm for the 1.8-liter engine, compared to 4,395 mm for the 2.0-liter engine. The width is 1,795 mm, with a height of 1,555 mm and a wheelbase of 2,640 mm.

Engines and performance
Using the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform, the Toyota C-HR hybrid offers a choice of two hybrid powertrains. These are recharged while driving.
A 1.8-liter gasoline engine combined with an electric motor is capable of developing up to 122 hp (90kW) of power. In terms of performance, the top speed of the CHR Toyota hybrid is 170 km/h. In acceleration, the 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 11 seconds.
For the restyled 2019 version, we find the Dynamic Force Hybrid block of the Toyota Corolla. 184 hp (135 kW) of power. The latter combines a 2-liter gasoline engine, and an electric motor. The duo also goes through an e-CVT box. Maximum speed of 180 km/h, and a 0 to 100 km/h, in 8.2 seconds.
Battery and autonomy
The 1.8-liter engine uses a 207 V lithium-ion battery, and the 2.0-liter Hybrid Dynamic Force engine uses a 216 V nickel-metal hydride battery.
The driver can use the “EV” button to drive in electric mode, and without gas emissions, for two to three kilometers. If you are in the city, you can drive up to 80% emission-free. However, the combustion engine must be activated regularly.
How does the Toyota CHR hybrid charge ?
Toyotas with hybrid systems do not need to be plugged in, they recharge themselves while driving. Indeed, it is during the braking and deceleration phases that kinetic energy is recovered. This energy is then converted into electricity, and instead of being lost, it is stored in the battery. You will not have any concern of autonomy. Freedom is yours!
Consumption
In the combined cycle, but also depending on the size of the rims (17, 18 or 19 inches), the carmaker claims a consumption ranging from 4.9 to 5.0 l/100 for the 1.8 l engine. According to the WLTP standard, and from 5.2 to 5.3 l/100 km for the 2-liter engine.
It should be noted that in 100% electric mode, the Toyota C-HR hybrid does not emit any gas. In combined mode, the gasoline engine is used intelligently by the hybrid technology.
This reduces fuel consumption, as well as emissions of C02 (carbon dioxide), nitrogen oxide and fine particles. Toyota Hybrids contribute to the preservation of the environment and air quality.

Where is the Toyota CHR hybrid manufactured ?
The Toyota C-HR has been sold in France since November 2016. In 2019, new style, with the arrival of the 184 hp hybrid engine. Its final assembly takes place on are site Sakarya, Turkey. This is the same production site as the Corolla and the Verso.
The new compact crossover thus becomes the eighth Toyota model built in Europe. As for the production of the hybrid powertrain, it is ensured by the British plant in Deeside, Wales.
Our opinion
The CHR Toyota hybrid urban SUV impresses with its style and craftsmanship. The exterior is sleek and dynamic, and the interior is unique and high quality. Hybrid technology gives it a good mixed range. However, its singular look takes its toll on trunk space and rear visibility.
A small drawback also, on the interface which is rather old. It’s a shame, because the competition didn’t wait. This is the case with the Renault Captur E-Tech, which is certainly less powerful, but offers excellent driving pleasure and is more roomy.
