Marketed in France since 2019, the Toyota Corolla Hybrid, which takes the place of the Toyota Auris, is offered in sedan and Tourin Sports wagon versions. You’ll love its dynamism, and appreciate its smooth yet highly responsive ride, as well as the silence of all-electric. More than 18 million drivers worldwide have chosen the Toyota Hybrid !
Since 2011, the Corolla has been manufactured at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi plants. The automaker has announced that Canadian production of its Corolla will be transferred to its new Mexican plant in the state of Guanajuato. This investment will cost $1 billion and will be able to produce more than 200,000 vehicles per year.
Interior and exterior design: a sense of aesthetics
This new hybrid captivates your eyes with its bold and dynamic lines. Its two-tone bodywork asserts its personality. The front and rear fascias are well designed, with an aggressive grille and LED design lights. As for its sharp lower body, it is highlighted by 18-inch Typhoon alloy wheels, which give it a sporty look.
Step inside the Toyota Corolla Hybrid and discover a world of design and sport. One of the many subtle touches that characterize this hybrid is the ambient lighting. It’s a light blue color that graces the Corolla Hybrid’s interior. Settle into comfortable, wrap-around “Sport” seats. The seats are upholstered in leather, Alcantara, and fabric. They offer excellent support. Depending on the trim level, the front seats are heated, and will make every drive a pleasant one.
To make the Toyota Corolla Hybrid more spacious, a panoramic sunroof bathes the interior in incredible light. This view is more unobstructed, it is quite spectacular. The roof opens, allowing fresh air to flow easily into the cabin.
The space is harmonious and the dashboard is uncluttered. It features an 8-inch high-definition touchscreen. With Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, get instant access to your smartphone data: calls, messaging, favorite playlists and other apps.
Located in the center of the meters, an on-board computer with color screen, offers 7 multi-functions. It provides all the information necessary for driving. To give more character to the display, you can choose its design: a speedometer with a classic dial, simple digital version, or with 3D effect. It’s up to you!
Dimensions of the car
The length of the Toyota Hybrid Corolla sedan is increased by 40 mm, while its height is reduced by 20 m. The sporty spirit is reinforced by the lowering of the hood height by 47 mm. This dimension improves its aerodynamics, as well as the visibility of the user.
For the station wagon version, called Toyota Corolla Touring Sports, it is a little longer. Nevertheless, it is the trunk volume that is the most consistent. From 582 to 598 liters, against 313 to 361 liters for the sedan version. The choice is yours.

Two hybrid engines: a unique driving experience
In fact, you can choose between two hybrid engines. For a smooth and zen driving experience, Toyota recommends the 1.8L Hybrid engine. This one has 122 horsepower.
If, on the other hand, you’re looking for acceleration and dynamic driving, then you should choose the 184-horsepower 2.0L Hybrid Force engine. You’ll love it!
Plus, you have the power to choose your driving mode: Eco, Normal, Sport or EV Mode. Select the driving mode that suits you, depending on the type of road and your desires.
What fuel for the Toyota Corolla hybrid ?
Whichever configuration you choose, the internal combustion engine runs on gasoline and the transmission is an e-CVT. It is automatic, with continuous transmission. Hybrid is a simple technology. It offers the optimal balance between performance and consumption. You don’t need to plug in your Toyota Hybrid Corolla. It recharges itself as you drive. Yes, driving a Toyota Hybrid is pure pleasure!
Nevertheless, on these two configurations, the electric side of the Toyota Corolla is not the same. With the 1.8L engine, there is only one electric block. It’s installed in the front and is powered by a 207V lithium-ion battery. As for the 2.0L engine, a second motor is added to the rear axle. It is accompanied by a 216 V nickel-hydride battery.
Consumption of the Toyota Corolla Hybrid
In mixed conditions, the manufacturer claims 4.5 to 5 L/100 km for the 1.8 L hybrid engine. CO2 emissions are 101 to 112 g/km, according to the WLTP standard.
The 2.0 Hybrid version, on the other hand, is more fuel-intensive. It consumes 4.9 to 5.2 L/100 km, and 111 to 119 g/km of CO2 emissions for the sedan, against 112 to 121 g/km for the Touring Sports, according to the WLTP standard.

Sedan and Estate (Touring Sports): marketing
In France, the first deliveries of the Corolla Hybrid sedan began in March 2019. The station wagon and Toyota Corolla Touring Sports hybrid versions, meanwhile, started in June 2019.
Our opinion
It is a rather attractive little car. On the hybrid car market, the price of the Toyota Hybrid Corolla is one of the lowest. Its fuel consumption, its comfort, its spacious interior, as well as all the technology on board, are all elements that militate in its favor. A detour is a must!
