Renault Megane e Tech : An electric sedan with a crossover look

A new automotive era is born with the Renault Megane e Tech. It is the first compact electric sedan of the Renault brand. Marketed since the beginning of 2022, the new electric star marks the revolution of the Losange.

Interior and exterior design of the new Renault Megane e Tech 2022

The Renault Megane Electric is a blend of a compact sedan body and crossover styling. The body lines are sporty and have been designed to maximize its aerodynamics (vehicle height, roof design, narrow-sided tires, sculpted fascias).

As for the 20-inch aero rims, they are the signature of an unimagined personality and give a sportier side to the Renault Megane electric.

As the driver approaches, the new Renault full LED logo at the front lights up, delicately illuminating the ground. The flush-fitting door handles deploy automatically, as if by magic. Climb aboard and discover a modern and warm interior. The Renault Megane e Tech is full of new features.

The new cockpit has one of the largest digital surfaces on board. Oriented towards the driver, it consists of the openR & openR link digital area, which gives access to the most popular Google features.

With a surface area of 774 cm2, it is distributed over two 12-inch screens, depending on the version. A high definition image that allows you to keep an eye on the essentials: speed, navigation, and also the state of charge.

Dimensions

The Renault Megane e-Tech is much more compact than the combustion version. It is 4,200 mm long (20 cm shorter), 1,768 mm wide and 1,505 mm high.

The trunk offers a 100% useful load volume ranging from 440 liters to 1,332 liters with the rear seats folded. The charging cables have their own storage space, accessible through the double floor.

With no transmission tunnel, the platform specifically designed for electric vehicles offers a completely flat floor. As a result, space is optimized. In the rear, there is 209 mm of knee room and 33 liters of storage space in the cabin. At 1,680 kg, the Renault Megane e-Tech is one of the lightest vehicles in its class.

Powertrain and performance of the Renault Megane e Tech

The landscapes pass by in an electric silence and the accelerations follow one another. They are vigorous, linear and muscular.

Designed on the basis of the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s new CMF-EV platform, the new 100% electric Renault Megane e-Tech reveals its sporting DNA, thanks to its two electric engines with 130 hp and 220 hp. Manufactured at the Renault plant in Cléon, Normandy.

With the most powerful engine, it takes only 7.4 seconds to go from 0 km/h to 100 km/h. The maximum top speed is 160 km/h, compared to 150 km/h for the 130 horsepower engine and a 0 km/h to 100 km/h time of 10.4 seconds.

Battery and autonomy

The new platform of the Renault Megane electric is home to two versions of ultra-flat lithium-ion batteries, 11 centimeters thick. Located under the floor, they are made of NMC cells, supplied by the manufacturer LG.

40 kWh battery: 300 km range
60 kWh battery: 450 km to 470 km range

Whatever the weather conditions outside, the Renault Megane e-Tech benefits from optimized range, thanks to a system that automatically regulates the temperature of the battery and engine.
